I recreated past Autumn memories of my hometown from a few years ago in my present new environment, Chicago. I used p5.js to visualize memories in an abstract form and explored them in the augmented reality. I wanted this artwork to belong to the specific area where the memories were triggered: I recalled these memories when I took a walk by Lake Michigan, and so created my virtual memory garden at Grant Park.

Process

I found some relationship between coding language and the human mind, unconscious memories and real-time environment. This artwork was presented in a specific location where the memories were triggered.

Inspired by the journals I wrote about a series of unconscious memories related to Autumn, I made multiple visual experiments to present and symbolize them.
